PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go for it. Unless your name is Lan Xichen, Su She, or Nie Huaisang, he is highly likely to find some way to politely side-step any physical contact.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Go for it. Just fuck me up, man. Mutual murder CR sounds like my kind of misery.
ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Go for it. It's a theoretical possibility, as long as you don't mind an exceptionally slow-burn that may take longer to arrive than the heat death of the universe, or being romantically entangled with a man whose love language consists of lying to you For Your Own Good.
(Exaggeration aside, I would be down to--eventually--explore romance with JGY, but he is not a character to pursue if you are in any way uncomfortable with any of the warned content on his app. Because it will come up. Also, while he would not use this language to describe himself, I play him as bisexual.)
SEXUAL CONTENT: Go for it, bearing in mind that his background has given him extreme terror of being perceived as sexually available or 'loose' in any way. This absolutely informs whatever hypothetical sexual preferences he has; for example, any man seeking to be physically intimate with him will be rebuffed aggressively if they simply assume his willingness to go down on them or be penetrated. He will absolutely lose his shit if he is not expecting it, and possibly even if he is expecting it, though communication will reduce the likelihood of him snapping and trying to garrote your character with a guqin string in bed.
PSYCHIC ABILITIES: Go for it, but ping me in advance so we can discuss the details.
MAGIC/POWERS: Go for it. Give him gold hair, I think he'd rock it. Jin Guangyao is a cultivator within the wuxia/xianxia Chinese fantasy genre. His abilities can be read about in more detail here.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Ask before noticing something specific.
Jin Guangyao is in much better physical condition than your average human as a result of his martial arts training and his golden core. However, he has two dense patches of scar tissue on his torso--entry and exit wounds--indicating that he has been stabbed. There are other small scars across his body from various beatings received during childhood and adulthood, including a particularly vicious one along his hairline indicating a past head injury. He takes extreme care to conceal his scars from view, and the one on his forehead usually often hidden by his gauze hat.
If you would like to have your character notice a scar, ping me in advance and we'll figure out something that works.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: JGY goes through life perpetually on the cusp of being triggered by everything while trying to appear unflappable. (This is almost a direct quote, he tells Nie Mingjue that he is "afraid of everything.") But, in short: incest, calling him the "son of a whore" or any variation thereof, denigrating his mother, threatening him with physical violence (particularly with a sword), raised voices (particularly the raised voices of other men), losing his balance near a staircase.
To be clear, I personally consent to threading these subjects as JGY, but they will have a high likelihood of triggering JGY in the process.

BACKTAGGING: Go for it. I will likely want to wrap up any threads that are older than two weeks.
FOURTH WALLING: Please don't, I just don't have much interest in pursuing fourth-walling with this character.
THREADHOPPING: It's probably going to be fine, but please ask first.
CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR, BUT CAN STILL PLAY: Some body horror can occasionally be a bit much for me, especially if it involves eye trauma, but if I can prepare for it, I'm usually fine.
CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR AND THAT I CAN'T PLAY: The only legitimate trigger I as a player have is anything dealing with cruelty to cats. Please don't bring this into any of my threads.
ANYTHING ELSE: Full disclosure that I am not Asian or Chinese, and so welcome any constructive feedback on my interpretation of cultural norms, courtesy language and terms of address, etc. Always let me know if I've unwittingly veered into a racist trope, I'll fix it.
MDZS-SPECIFIC CAVEATS:
Also, since it has come up a handful of times, I felt it necessary to include the following for players who are familiar with his canon source material (the novel specifically, I cannot stress enough that even though I use Zhu Zanjin's expressive face for my icons, I am playing JGY from the novel and not the live-action drama):
- I don't play Jin Guangyao as an evil villain and am not interested in storylines that cast him as one. Please don't use threads with him as an excuse for soapboxing about his villainy vs. your character's inherent moral superiority; it is inconsistent with the tone I'm aiming for in my threads and I promise it won't be that fun or interesting for you in the long run either.
- I do play him as the principle antagonist of MDZS with complex motivations and constraints that place him at odds with the principle protagonist and his closest friends/family.
- I don't play Jin Guangyao as needing a redemption arc and am not interested in pursing a redemption arc narrative, and I believe the novel backs up my preference.
- I am interested in storylines where Jin Guangyao is provided opportunities to make different decisions than those he would make in his source material while operating under the constraints imposed upon him by his precarious position in the world.
- I don't play storylines that re-litigate which of Jin Guangyao's actions were justifiable or unjustifiable, what he is transparently guilty of and what he isn't, whether he is 'deserving' of forgiveness or not, etc.
- I am interested in storylines that allow Jin Guangyao to witness and grapple with the real, tangible harm that his actions caused to the people that he cares for (e.g., Lan Xichen, Nie Huaisang, Qin Su, Jin Ling) and, where possible, provide opportunities for closure, catharsis, or reconciliation.
- I'm not interested in giving his principle opponents or allies in the novel another opportunity to shame, humiliate, denigrate, or kill him again (outside of a broader game event where death isn't permanent and the conflict contributes to more nuanced CR development) where the implication is that they are 100% right for doing those things and Jin Guangyao 100% deserves to receive it. This is connected to my first point, to be honest, but I just want to make it transparently clear that I reserve the right to press pause on any threads or CR development that I feel is heading in this direction so that we can regroup and get on the same page OOC.
